Partnering with Us

Membership at Journey

Our mission as a church is to be a place where people are invited and helped to follow Jesus, be changed by Jesus and join the mission of Jesus. We realize that people come to Journey from all walks of life. Some have extensive church background, while other people have very little church background or none at all. Regardless of a person’s church experience, we want to meet them where they are and offer the opportunity where they can pursue their spiritual questions, their doubts, their faith, and begin to build a relationship with Jesus. Journey is a place where a person can belong relationally before they believe spiritually.

To achieve our mission of inviting and helping people follow Jesus and be changed by Jesus, we need people to partner with us who have a desire to make a difference in the lives of those around them and in the people in the world. And so we ask people who wish to be members at Journey to partner with us in four specific areas.

Serving

Our desire is for everyone to find a place to serve at Journey. Serving is simply a matter of applying your heart and your hands to the place of greatest need. Volunteers are vital to the success of our mission and because of that we ensure that they are well equipped and prepared.

Community

We believe that people grow best in the context of community. We have several options for community including a five week short term small group experience for people who are curious about Christianity and the Bible, or who are beginning or want to begin a relationship with Jesus. We also have interest groups, campus groups, and community groups which meet weekly in homes of about eight to twelve people all across our area to explore and discuss the Bible together, to encourage each other to support one another. Inviting

Another way to engage is through inviting other people to attend with you. Relationships are powerful and we’d like for every one of us to be investing in people outside of church and then to invite them to attend so they can develop a growing relationship with Jesus.

Giving

We are 100% funded through the generosity of people who believe in our mission and want to support it financially. We acknowledge that the scriptures teach that a tithe, or 10% of one’s income, is the standard of giving for Christians, the local church is God’s unique institution in the world. Tithing and financial generosity is our opportunity to fund all of the ministry that happens through Journey, including local, national and global missions.

the primary ways to engage and partner with us. We view membership as a partnership, as an active participation and mission of our church through serving, connecting, inviting and giving. We encourage formal membership for anyone who has accepted Jesus as their savior, been baptized by immersion, and who is actively engaged in these four areas.

So you can see, membership is so much more than just having your name on a church roster because at the core, our members have aligned and have invested themselves in the ministry and the mission of our church.
