There are several opportunities to get plugged into a new group. Check out the options below.
We believe Rooted is the best way for a new group to begin to connect relationally in order to grow spiritually. In 2019, we established Rooted as the launching phase of our discipleship pathway and the front door to our Community Group environments, meaning each new Community Group that forms will start first with Rooted. Rooted is an 11-week catalytic experience that will jump start or deepen a person’s faith and their impact in the world. However, maybe you’re unsure and still have questions. Starting Point is a conversational environment where people can explore faith and experience community. Learn more about it here.
The meetings will be held either virtually or at the Journey campus for the initial 11 weeks beginning the week of February 1. Groups will meet on either Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday during the Rooted phase. Rooted has 3 experiences that may take place on a night that your group is not meeting. Click here to view the Rooted Calendar.
After the 11 weeks of Rooted, groups will be encouraged to move on to the Community Group phase where they will continue to meet together either virtually or in homes for 12-24 months. In some cases, the group may switch to a new meeting night after Rooted.
Below you will find details for both phases of your new group. Listed first, you will find information about the Community Group which will continue on after the Rooted experience is completed. Secondly, you will find information related to your Rooted group (ie. Leaders Name, Night of week, etc.)
The cost of Rooted is $25 per person which includes all sessions, your workbook and other materials, and the Celebration at the end of the 10 weeks.
Childcare is available ( more info The cost for childcare is in addition to the $25 participant fee. The childcare cost is $55 per individual registering a child that will be paid upfront for the 11-week Rooted experience (Childcare may not be paid for on an a la carte basis). This adds up to only $5 per week for a single adult participant and $10 per week for a couple checking in children - regardless of the amount of children. If a couple is registering for childcare, the cost of childcare will be applied to each person.).
Have conversation and build great relationships!
1830 is our environment for young adults ages 18 to 30-something, allowing some flexibility for people in their early thirties to decide if 1830 is where they feel they fit in their current stage of life. Among this age range, there are various stages of life represented. Some are in college, some are in the workforce, many are experiencing both college and the workforce at the same time, some are single, some are in relationships, others are married, some have children, while others do not.
We want 1830 to be a place for young adults to connect. It is an unstructured, casual environment where they can begin to find one another on Sunday mornings, have conversation, and build relationships in ways that are engaging to young adults. The desire is that it will ultimately be an environment that helps young adults experience community with others and God here at Journey.
We are a Christian church committed to leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
…to invite and lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
…to create environments where people are encouraged and equipped to pursue intimacy with God, community with insiders, and influence with outsiders.
We often get asked, “What kind of church are you?” We are a Christian church committed to leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. At its core, Christianity is not a religion; it is a relationship with God through his Son Jesus Christ. We believe that, just as Jesus is irresistible, the local church should be irresistible. As crazy as it sounds, we believe that people should wake up on Sunday morning and want to go to church. Our desire is to create a church that would be people’s number one option on Sunday morning; first, because of what we do and ultimately because of the connection they develop with Jesus Christ.
The church is a representative of Christ to the world; everything we do should point toward him. We’re here to create such a compelling “church” experience that even people who normally don’t go to church find themselves wanting to go and that as they do they would be led into a relationship with Jesus Christ.
For us, it really is that simple.
A positive impact in our community since 1995
Our church began in 1995 under the name “Countryside Christian Church” with a dream to have a positive impact in our community. For the first 10 years we met in various school facilities in the Midlothian area. We began construction on a new campus in 2003 and moved into a new facility by July 2005. In 2007 we went through a “rebirth” of sorts and adopted a new name: Journey Christian Church. As a part of that process, we re-evaluated the focus and direction of our church and began the work of transitioning into a church whose primary objective was inviting and leading people who normally don’t go to church into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. We wanted to create environments that were effective at helping people discover and develop their faith. As a result, Journey has continued to grow each year and has twice been named one of the 100 fastest growing churches in America by Outreach Magazine. What we’re most excited about, however, are the hundreds of changed lives, marriages, and families we’ve witnessed over these years. Through it all, our focus remains on our mission of inviting and leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
By 2010, our leaders were faced with a challenge: in just five years, we had outgrown our (new) campus! As we explored our various options, a decision was made in late 2010 to relocate. As an intermediate step in that relocation, in August 2011 we moved our Sunday services to Clover Hill High School. A search for a new permanent campus location led us to the former Costco Warehouse located near the intersection of Courthouse Road and Hull Street Road in Chesterfield, VA. Renovations to the old warehouse began in April 2016 and the grand opening of our new campus was celebrated on February 5, 2017.
It is our goal that you have a great experience and that you’ll return with a friend.
We are passionate about inviting and leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Everything we do is pointed in that direction. Whether you are new to church, haven’t been to church in a long time, or are new to the area and searching for a new church home, it is our goal that you have a great experience and that you’ll return with a friend. We believe that your Sunday experience should be enjoyable, meaningful, and helpful. At some point during your morning, we invite you to speak with one of our Guest Services team members to answer any of your questions and to find out how you can take a next step in getting connected.
We have an environment created especially for your infants (six weeks) through preschool-aged children. We can’t wait to meet them! We know things are busy at this stage of life and your children are learning and growing in amazing ways.
We believe the Bible should never be boring, worship can be fun and loud, and good leaders always care. We want elementary age kids to see how God’s Word fits into their lives, to learn how to talk to him, and to build friendships that will last.
We offer a teaching environment specifically for 6th — 8th grade students. Each Sunday, students experience a combination of music, games, teaching, and interaction with a dedicated small group of peers. Middle school students meet Sunday morning at 9:15AM
We have a specific environment just for high schoolers. Our goal is to create a ministry where students are encouraged to make wise choices, positively influence their friends, and experience personal ministry through serving others. High school students meet Sunday morning at 11:00AM

Secure Online Giving is Quick and Convenient!
If you’ve never given online before:
This is a great opportunity to start! You can test it out with a gift as small as $1 to see how easy it is to give directly from your smartphone or computer. Here are the simple steps to transition to this exciting new way to give!
Using your mobile device:
Bill Pay Giving – this is set up directly through your bank (not Journey’s Online Giving Platform). This is the only method that does not charge a fee to Journey, so, if you want your giving to go further, this could be a great choice. Contact your bank for more information.
We supply envelopes for you to place your in person offering into. If you want to receive an end of year contribution statement for tax purposes, be sure to include your contact info on the check or envelope.
Tax ID: 45-19997742
By setting up an online profile through our secure, digital Fellowship One giving platform, you can easily and quickly take action on your generosity. Set up recurring giving on a schedule that works for you and adjust that schedule any time you like. You may also track your giving and print giving statements at any time.
Yes! You can securely save your bank account information. It’s protected by SSL encryption – the same protocol used by financial institutions to keep your info safe and secure.
Our Fellowship One giving platform is electronic, meaning that no actual check is being sent through the mail. It is sent electronically, and because it is sent this way, it is then automatically recorded in your Fellowship One giving account. So, it reduces the administration required for us to record your gift. Convenient for you and efficient for us – it’s a win, win!
Yes, you are welcome to give via credit card. However, we encourage everyone to give through their bank (checking) account. Credit card gifts require Journey to pay processing fees to the banks and therefore actually reduces your gift to the ministry of Journey. Fellowship One Giving has a great feature though. You can elect to cover the processing costs of your online gift, which will add 2.5% for credit/debit cards or .3% for ACH debit processing. Your giving statement will reflect the entire amount given ($1 credit card gift + $0.03 processing = $1.03 given).
You may mail your gift to:
Journey Christian Church, Inc.
3700 Price Club Blvd
Midlothian, VA 23112
You can set up charitable donations also by using our Tax ID: 45-1997742.
You can donate non-cash gifts like stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and real estate. In fact, if you donate first, rather than sell, pay taxes and then give the net proceeds, you could reduce taxes, save more and give more! Journey has a relationship with National Christian Foundation that allows you to give more by giving more wisely.
To make a stock donation, it is highly recommended that you use this form and follow the steps therein. If you must use your firm’s form, please include our NCF Giving Fund Number 1308151 and our NCF Giving Fund Name ‘The Journey Christian Church Single Charity Fund’ in the Delivery Instructions block of your firm’s Letter of Authorization. This will ensure timely and proper routing of your gift to Journey Christian Church and receipt of your donation acknowledgement.
If you have any questions, please contact Wendy Spradlin in our business office.
