Hiking Interest Group
This group is for beginning – intermediate hikers who want to hike in the Shenandoah Mountains once a month on a Saturday.
Please wear comfortable, worn-in shoes and bring a water bottle. We are hiking in a variety of places, so look at each hike individually for the meetup times.
1)Sat, April 20th: Floodwall/ Slave Trail Arrive at Journey
by 9:30am. Experience this 4.5-mile out-and-back trail near Richmond,
Virginia. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it is a
popular trail with good views of the skyline. Dogs are welcome, but must
be on a leash.
2) Sat, May 11th: Hazel Falls and Caves in Shenandoah.
Arrive at Journey by 8:15am for a 2+ hour drive to the park.
Please bring a lunch.Head out on this 5.1-mile out-and-back trail near
Syria, Virginia. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it
takes an average of 2 h 31 min to complete. Dogs are welcome, but must be
on a leash.
3) Saturday, June 8th: Bell Lap to Cork Screw and
Sunsetter MTP Trails in Pocahontas SP. Arrive at
Journey by 9:30am. 4.9 mile moderate loop with views of the lake.
There is a parking fee in the park, but we will carpool.
