Communications and Social Media Internship 2019
Overview
The Communications and Social Media Internship at Journey aims to equip interns with leadership and learning opportunities in ministry. The internship will focus on creating, planning, organizing and implementing a communication and social media strategy and messaging which will convey the vision and mission of Journey Christian Church utilizing the current branding of the church.
Schedule (~20 hr/week)
The following schedule is a typical week, but may need to be adjusted for different weekly obligations. The internship will begin late May 2019 and end approximately mid-August 2019.
Sunday: 8am – 1:00pm
Monday: 11:30pm – 3:30pm
Tuesday – Thursday: 1pm – 4pm
And as needed during church events
Summer Intern Skills
- Be comfortable working with an Apple MacBook and Google Suite
- Be strong at clearly and effectively using the written word, proofreading, and editing
- Know basic design principles and be able to utilize software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
- Be proficient in using all facets of social media platforms to include, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter
Summer Intern Responsibilities
The following are responsibilities of the communication and social media intern:
- Create procedures and processes for external communications through print and electronic vehicles
- Assess and determine most effective strategies to communicate a message to its intended audience by creating a schedule of routine communication through social media channels to include daily posts of current events, upcoming events, and other posts that align with the vision/mission of the church
- Connect weekly with Family and Adult ministry departments to understand their needs and desired outcomes and assist them where needed
- Continuously look for creative opportunities to capture photos and videos at church-wide programs and events; including stories of life change
- Provide updates and support on all current and any new communications vehicles, to include the current website, social media, e-newsletter, and print material
- Create and maintain an electronic photo bank for the church
- Maintain responsibility over church communication equipment (i.e. camera and laptop)
