There is more to being a Christian than having your name on a church roster. Some regard membership in a church like membership at a country club. However, we believe that membership in a local church is strategic and meaningful. It is strategic in that everyone pulls together in unison to accomplish the daunting task Christ has given His church. It is meaningful in that each person is an important and needed member in fulfilling the mission. Therefore, a member is someone who is fully supportive of accomplishing – both personally and corporately – Journey’s mission.
At the core, our members have aligned and have invested themselves in the ministry and mission of this church. Membership at Journey is a partnership in the mission God has given us. In the end, the difference between someone who “attends” church and someone who is a member can be summed up in this way: a strategic, committed involvement.
Chances are you are already familiar with many of our ministry environments. No doubt they are a big part of what hooked you to begin with. As a member we will ask you to move beyond simply participating in these incredible environments. We are going to ask you to partner with us in creating, leading, and funding our environments as well.
Creating relevant, life changing environments is neither easy nor inexpensive. But with your help we can continue to impact our community through this unique approach to ministry.
We encourage membership for any attendee who…
- has embraces Jesus as their personal Savior and the unique Son of God
- desires to formally and practically align with the mission, values, and beliefs of Journey
- is involved in a Journey small group
- is serving on a strategic service team
- is growing as a percentage giver
- is active in our invest & invite strategy
While participation in most activities and many volunteer roles are available to anyone, there are certain leadership positions that are reserved for those who have aligned themselves with the church through membership.
